Treating and Reintegrating Street Orphans

Introduction

The aftermath of the genocide against Tutsis in 1994 has left Rwanda grappling with profound scars, affecting individuals in unimaginable ways. The repercussions, including trauma, hopelessness, depression, and domestic abuse, have led to fractured families and escalated conflicts, ultimately driving children to the streets. These street kids endure dire circumstances, scavenging for discarded food and missing out on education. Our project aims to rewrite their narratives, offering love, care, and reintegration into families and education systems.

Project Details

A. Family Reintegration:Our foremost objective is to reunite these vulnerable children with their families or suitable relatives. By fostering connections, providing support, and facilitating counseling and mediation, we aim to create nurturing environments that prioritize their well-being and emotional recovery.

B. Education Revival:Education serves as a beacon of hope for these street kids. We are dedicated to reintroducing them to schools, covering the costs of fees and necessary school materials. The first phase of this project requires approximately $3,000 for the school year 2023-2024 (September to July), enabling these children to regain their access to education.
